Summary:
A main emphasis is to service TANF children and families to increase graduation rates, promotes job preparation,
work, healthy relationships and self-sufficiency.
This person will provide independent learning opportunities to at risk students who have either dropped out of school
or need credit retrieval. This person will develop strategies, programs and intervention to increase high school
graduation rates.
This person will also provide support to TANF/After School/Summer participants (ASYP) who are performing below
grade-level expectations. This person will work collaboratively with Nooksack Tribal Administration Departments
such as the Education, Local Education Agencies (LEA), Behavioral Health, Chemical Dependency, Tribal Court
professionals to determine academic intervention needs of the students, establish targeted means of assessing
students, determine methods for dealing with academic issues and most importantly, monitor on an ongoing basis
whether these methods are resulting in increased learning and achievement. This person will keep track of student
progress on a case by case basis to determine the best method or strategy to increase student performance. This
person will share information with the collaboration team mentioned above to discuss performance observations,
data results and measures taken to support the students.
MAJOR TASKS AND
Responsibilities:
Provide the following services to Afterschool/summer Youth Program participants:
1. For those participants at the elementary school level, provides early identification and intervention of
student's academic and personal/social needs to help remove barriers to learning, promote academic
achievement, and create a foundation for future success. This person will work with Nooksack Tribal
Administration Departments, the two Teen Youth Mentors as a liaison between the Tribe and the LEAs.
May be requested to attend IEP meetings at the LEAs for TANF/ASYP participants.
2. For those participants at the middle school level, provides a developmental program to create a supportive
climate and atmosphere whereby young adolescents can cope with the passage from childhood to
adolescence and achieve academic success. This person will help middle school students explore a variety
of interests; connect their learning in the program to its practical application in life and work. Provide
intervention of student's academic and personal/social needs to help remove barriers to learning, promote
academic achievement, and create a foundation for future success.
3. At the high school level, assists students in the final transition into adulthood and the world of work as the
students are beginning to separate from parents and explore and define their independence. Help students
evaluate their strengths, skills and abilities, explore career choices, and develop decision making skills.
Provides programs and support to students as they face increased pressures regarding high risk behaviors.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
